The Ukrainian successfully played the first match in her career on grass
Ukrainian tennis player Yulia Starodubtseva made it to the finals of the grass tournament qualification WTA 500 V Berlin.
In the semifinals of the selection, Starodubtseva beat Tamara Korpach from Germany. The match lasted an hour and 46 minutes.
In the first set, Yulia made four breaks and won 6:1. In the second game, the Ukrainian failed to build on her success – 4:6.
In the final set, Starodubtseva did not give up a single game to her opponent and achieved a final victory – 6:0. Note that this is Yulia’s first match on grass in her career.
In the qualifying final, Starodubtseva (No. 134 in the WTA rankings) will play with Czech Katerzina Sinyakova. The fight will take place on June 16.
Earlier, Dayana Yastremskaya failed to qualify for the tournament in Berlin, losing to Zeynep Sonmez from Turkey. The first racket of Ukraine, Marta Kostyuk, will perform in the main draw, her opponent is “neutral” Daria Kasatkina.
