“It was a very difficult match. Last time I lost in the deciding tiebreaker at the Stuttgart tournament and today I faced a tiebreaker again in the third set . At that moment I thought: ‘Okay, this is the time.’ The perfect time to take revenge, ”Zhizhen was quoted as saying by the ATP press service.
Zhizhen and Medvedev spent 2 hours and 5 minutes on the field. As the match progressed, Daniil led with a break in the third set, and also led with a score of 4-1 in the deciding tiebreaker.
Note that this was the first head-to-head meeting between Zhang and Daniil at ATP tournaments.
