Twenty-time Grand Slam winner Roger Federer believes that competition between Carlos Alcaraz And Jannik sinner similar to his rivalry with Rafael Nadal.
“I didn’t compare us to them, but yes, between Sinner and Alcaraz, there is the same rivalry that I had with Nadal. Every tennis player has his own rivals, and in many ways it is too early to talk about them. Sinner and Alcaraz are from the same generation, they are very strong and have great respect for each other. Both have started their tennis journey on the right foot and it promises to be a great battle. It’s a pleasure to see them play,” Federer said according to Mundo Deportivo.
The Italian Sinner occupies the first place in the world ranking, the Spaniard Alcaraz occupies the second place. Sinner, 22, has one Grand Slam tournament victory and Alcaraz, 21, has three major tournament victories.
Federer retired from the sport in September 2022.
Federer, Nadal and Novak Djokovic are known as the “big three” of the tennis world, having dominated men’s singles for almost 20 years. Between 2003 and Federer’s retirement, the three of them won 63 Grand Slam tournaments.
