Ivanisevic: I have no hope that Djokovic will be allowed to play at the US Open

Serbian will not be vaccinated against coronavirus, which is a prerequisite for entry into the US

Former tennis player and current coach Novak Djokovic Goran Ivanisevic said that the participation of the former first racket of the world in the upcoming US Open unlikely.

“Novak is going to do everything he can to get a special visa, but there are only two weeks left. Personally, I have no hope. I don’t think Biden will change the rules before the start of the tournament.”

“This is nonsense – if you are vaccinated, but you test positive, you can come to the US. But you will be banned from entering even with a negative result if you do not have the vaccine.”

Earlier, Wimbledon winner Novak Djokovic said he hopes to play in the US Open, but he does not intend to be vaccinated against coronavirus in order to qualify for entry into the United States.

Recall that Djokovic has already missed the Australian Open this year due to his refusal to vaccinate against covid.

Goran Ivanisevic previously had coronavirus. The coach contracted covid at an exhibition tournament organized by Djokovic without any precautions during the pandemic.

The start of the US Open is scheduled for August 29.
