Athletistic / Tennis. The Wimbledon press service said that all Russian and Belarusian tennis players must sign neutrality declarations if they wish to participate in the London 2024 tournament. Note that last season, Russians and Belarusians already signed these documents to participate at the Grand Slam tournament on grass.
“Tennis players from Russia and Belarus had to sign a declaration of neutrality to participate in Wimbledon in 2023. The same rules remain in force this year,” the Wimbledon press service told TASS.
In the spring of 2022, Wimbledon, contrary to the rules of the ATP and WTA, did not allow Russians and Belarusians to participate in the Grand Slam tournament. In response, the ATP and WTA stripped Wimbledon of their ranking points and also fined the LTA $1 million each.
Wimbledon is one of the four Grand Slam tournaments. It’s the only one that takes place on grass. The main draw competitions of the 2024 tournament will take place from July 1 to 14.
