The Ukrainian paired with Ostapenko from Latvia defeated the second seeded duo
Ukrainian tennis player Lyudmila Kichenok in tandem with Elena Ostapenko from Latvia managed to reach the semi-finals of the doubles tournament WTA 500 in Eastbourne, UK.
In the quarter-final match, Lyudmila and Elena were stronger than the Czech-German duo Barbora Krejcikova / Laura Siegemund, seeded number two.
The fight lasted one hour and 23 minutes. In the first game, Kichenok and Ostapenko led 3:0 and 4:1, then they allowed the gap to be reduced to a minimum, but left the ending behind them – 6:3. In the second set there was a stubborn fight, but everything was decided by one single break with the score 3:3.
The Ukrainian and Latvian will compete with the winners of the match Xie Shuwei / Sloane Stephens (Taiwan / USA) – Harriet Dart / Maya Lumsden (Great Britain) for reaching the final.
