Myskina – about Dmitrieva: “This is the person who opened the way to this world for me”

Winner of the Grand Slam tournament in France Anastasia Myskina on , she noted that Anna Dmitrieva, Honored Worker of Culture of Russia, sports commentator and Soviet tennis player, had taught her a lot.

On Thursday, a farewell ceremony for Dmitrieva took place at the Novodevichy Cemetery. The ceremony was attended by the head of the Russian Tennis Federation Shamil Tarpishchev, commentators Alexander Metreveli, Denis Kazansky, Alexander Elagin, Dmitry Fedorov, Georgy Cherdantsev, Timur Zhuravel, Dmitry Shnyakin, Marat’s mother Safina – Rauza Islanova, Alexander Sergeevich Bogomolov, General Secretary of the FTR Yakov Shatkhin, tennis player Elena Vesnina, Anastasia Myskina, photographer, journalist and writer Yuri Rost and many others.

“He is the person who opened the way to this world for me, who showed me that it is possible and necessary to learn new things, not to be afraid of something and to take responsibility not only on the tennis court, but also beyond. It’s a big loss for all of us,” Myskina said on .

Dmitrieva’s death became known on June 24. Anna Vladimirovna died at the age of 83. She was eighteen times USSR tennis champion in singles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles. Dmitrieva ended her career in the early 1970s and began working as a journalist, including more than 15 years editing sports programs at the USSR State Radio and Television Company.

In 1997, Dmitrieva received the Russian national award Golden Microphone as the best sports commentator on Russian television. From 2004 to 2010, she headed the directorate of NTV-Plus sports channels, and then worked on the channel.

In 2004, Dmitrieva was inducted into the Russian Tennis Hall of Fame.
