President of the Russian Tennis Federation Shamil Tarpishchev told that the Russian tennis player Anna Kalinskaya will not participate in the Paris Olympic Games, despite the authorization she received from International Olympic Committee (IOC).
Earlier on Friday, the IOC approved invitations to the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris for tennis players Kalinskaya and Pavel Kotov on a neutral status.
— Kalinskaya, unfortunately, will not play at the Olympics. Today’s list is an addition, we expect new additions in the near future, ”Tarpischev told .
In February 2022, the IOC recommended that sports federations not allow Russians and Belarusians to participate in international tournaments. Later, the recommendations were relaxed and in December 2023, IOC head Thomas Bach announced that the organization would allow Russian and Belarusian athletes who passed the selection process for the 2024 Summer Games in a neutral status individual. Athletes will be able to perform in Paris without a flag, anthem and other national symbols.
The Olympic Games will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024. The tennis tournament will be held on clay courts.
