Athletistic/Tennis. The Wimbledon 2024 men’s singles draw has been announced and some exciting matches will take place in England over the coming weeks. Carlos Alcaraz is the defending champion after beating Novak Djokovic in the 2023 final.

Analysis of the drawing:

First quarter:

Ranked players: (1) Jannik Sinner, (5) Daniil Medvedev, (10) Grigor Dimitrov, (14) Ben Shelton, (19) Nicholas Harry, (22) Adrian Mannarino, (27) Tallon Grickspoor, (32) Zhang Zhizhen

Expected quarter-finals: Jannik Sinner against Grigor Dimitrov.

Analysis: World number one Jannik Sinner will aim to win his second Grand Slam title in 2024 at Wimbledon and his preparation has been impressive, having already won a maiden grass-court title in Halle. The Italian will face Yannick Hanfmann in the first round, but will face a tough match in the second round as his opponent could be Wimbledon 2021 finalist Matteo Berrettini.

Given the quality of Berrettini’s grass-court game, Sinner will have a tough time. However, if he can beat his 28-year-old compatriot, he should have no problem reaching the fourth round. Here, he is expected to meet 14th seed Ben Shelton, although players such as Nicholas Harry and Denis Shapovalov should not be ruled out. Regardless, given his current form, Sinner should be able to beat any opponent he faces in the round of 16 and reach the quarter-finals at Wimbledon.

On the other side of the draw is 2023 semifinalist and fifth seed Daniil Medvedev. The Russian was beaten in the second round in Halle, but at his best, he can be a threat to any opponent on any surface. Medvedev will open the tournament against Aleksandar Kovacevic and should easily advance to the third round, where he will likely face Zhang Zhizhen in a rematch of their Halle match. The Russian’s mentality should help him overcome the Chinese and reach the fourth round.

Here, he will likely face tenth seed Grigor Dimitrov, although Gael Monfils and Adrian Mannarino are not to be counted out. While Medvedev is among the best players in the world, Dimitrov has produced impressive results on grass throughout his career and given his performances in 2024 combined with his experience, the Bulgarian could win the match.

Jannik Sinner and Grigor Dimitrov already fought at the Miami Open, where the Italian won. If the two meet in the Wimbledon quarter-finals, there is a good chance that the Italian will win again and book his place in the semi-finals.

Quarter-final predictions: Jannik Sinner will beat Grigor Dimitrov

Second Quarter:

Ranked players: (3) Carlos Alcaraz, (8) Casper Ruud, (12) Tommy Paul, (16) Hugo Humbert, (18) Sebastian Baez, (23) Alexander Bublik, (29) Francis Tiafoe, (31) Mariano Navone

Quarter-finals expected: Carlos Alcaraz vs. Tommy Paul

Analysis: Carlos Alcaraz will start his Wimbledon title defence against Estonian Mark Lahal. Alcaraz’s level should allow him to easily face his opponents and reach the last 16 without any problems. Here, he will most likely face 16th seed Hugo Humbert, whose game is well suited to grass, but Alcaraz is still on another level.

On the other side of the draw is eighth seed Casper Ruud, who has often had poor results on grass in the past. Although the Norwegian has put in some impressive performances over the past few months, there is a good chance he will be eliminated early, perhaps in the fourth round, where he could face twelfth seed Tommy Paul.

Paul has already beaten Alcaraz, but the Spaniard still appears to be a favorite.

Prediction for the quarter-finals: Carlos Alcaraz defeated Tommy Paul

Third quarter:

Ranked players: (4) Alexander Zverev, (6) Andrey Rublev, (11) Stefanos Tsitsipas, (13) Taylor Fritz, (20) Sebastian Korda, (24) Alejandro Tabilo, (25) Lorenzo Musetti, (28) Jack Draper

Quarter-finals expected: Andrey Rublev vs. Taylor Fritz

Analysis: This quarter is very interesting: many players have a good chance of reaching the quarter-finals. Alexander Zverev will look to perform well at TBS London after his defeat in the Roland Garros final. The German will enter the tournament after the semi-finals of the Terra Wortmann Open in Halle.

Zverev should have it easy in the first two rounds before facing Jack Draper in the third. The Briton is a formidable opponent but the German must beat him to advance to the fourth round, where he will likely face 13th seed Taylor Fritz. The American has performed quite well this season and if he is in good shape, he could face Zverev and reach the quarter-finals.

On the other side of the draw is sixth seed Andrey Rublev, who reached the quarterfinals in 2023 and took a set from Novak Djokovic. The Russian could have a tough third-round match against 25th seed Lorenzo Musetti, but he should be able to beat the Italian and advance to the round of 16. Here, Rublev will most likely face either No. 11 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas or No. 20 Sebastian Korda. While there have been moments of defeat during the Russian’s career, he can beat either of them and reach the quarterfinals at Wimbledon again.

And right now, Rublev has the best opportunity to break his losing streak in the TBS quarterfinals. Each of the possible opponents is difficult for him.

Prediction for the quarter-finals: Andrey Rublev beat Taylor Fritz

Fourth trimester:

Ranked players: (1) Novak Djokovic, (7) Hubert Hurkacz, (9) Alex de Minaur, (15) Holger Rune, (17) Felix Auger-Aliassime, (21) Karen Khachanov, (26) Francisco Cerundolo, (30) Thomas Martin Écheverri

Expected quarter-finals: Novak Djokovic vs Hubert Hurkacz

Analysis: Novak Djokovic is set to compete at Wimbledon just weeks after undergoing knee surgery. The Serb will face Vit Kopriva in the first round and his experience should allow him to reach the fourth round without too much trouble. Here, the Serb could face Holger Rune, Karen Khachanov or Christopher Eubanks, a quarter-finalist in 2023.

Even though the Serb should be able to beat any player, he can be very exhausted, as Musetti and Cerundolo did at Roland Garros. And that will have an impact in the future.

On the other side of this group is seventh seed Hubert Hurkacz, who recently reached the final in Halle. The Pole had a fairly comfortable draw until the 1/8 finals. The next step could be a match with Alex de Minaur, although Felix Auger-Aliassime should not be underestimated either. Hurkacz is a great grass-court player and his serve will be a crucial weapon on this surface. So he has every chance of reaching the quarter-finals of Wimbledon. And then beat the exhausted Djokovic, who after an injury is unlikely to be 100% ready.

Prediction for the quarter-finals: Hubert Hurkac will beat Novak Djokovic

Predictions for the semi-finals

Jannik Sinner to beat Carlos Alcaraz

Andrey Rublev will beat Hubert Hurkacz

Final Forecast: Jannik Sinner to beat Andrey Rublev
