Athletistic/Tennis. Wimbledon 2024 will take place from July 1 to 14. Considering that Novak Djokovic is in a difficult situation due to injury, the main favorite of recent years is unlikely to challenge for the title.

The Serbian injured his knee during the French Open, which ultimately forced him to withdraw from the tournament before the quarter-finals. He underwent surgery and has been training at Wimbledon ever since.

Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz comes into the tournament after a historic victory at Roland Garros. Alcaraz became the youngest player to win a Grand Slam on all three surfaces. Other favourites for Wimbledon this year include world number one Jannik Sinner and Roland Garros finalist Alexander Zverev. Also, don’t forget Daniil Medvedev.

The main favorites of the tournament:

Daniel Medvedev

Daniil Medvedev is one of four players in the men’s draw to win a Grand Slam. The 2021 US Open champion had his best performance at Wimbledon last year by reaching the semi-finals. Medvedev’s form heading into Wimblend hasn’t been particularly impressive. The Russian suffered a sensational defeat to Zhang Zhizhen in the second round of the Terra Wortmann Open 2024 in Halle. Previously, he was eliminated in the fourth round at the Italian Open and Roland Garros.

As for the season, Medvedev does not have a single title yet, but he has reached two finals at the Australian Open and the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells. The Russian is among the best players in the world, and although he is not as good on grass as on hard, he is quite capable of achieving success at Wimbledon as he will in 2023.

Alexander Zverev

Alexander Zverev has high hopes for Wimbledon after reaching the French Open final. He kicked off this year’s grass-court season by reaching the semi-finals of the Terra-Wortmann Open in Halle.

The German has shown excellent results on grass, reaching two finals in Halle. This year, at two TBS, Zverev played the semi-final of the Australian Open with a loss to Daniil Medvedev and the final of Roland Garros with a loss to Carlos Alcaraz. He won the Italian Open by beating Nicholas Harry in the final.

Andrei Rublev

At Grand Slam tournaments, Rublev has never gone beyond the quarterfinals, but this time he was lucky with the draw – there are no Alcaraz, Sinner, Medvedev or Djokovic in A quarter. Potentially, he could face Zverev or Taylor Fritz in the quarterfinals. Rublev is able to beat both tennis players and end his losing streak at TBS.

Hubert Hurkacz

World number seven Hubert Hurkacz is the dark horse at Wimbledon this year. The Pole did well last year, reaching the fourth round and losing there to Novak Djokovic in four tight sets.

Hurkacz has so far performed well on grass, reaching the semifinals at Wimbledon 2021, defeating Roger Federer in the quarterfinals. He also won the Terra Wortmann Open in Halle in 2022 and reached the final in 2024. The Pole won one title in 2024, winning the Estoril Open, where he defeated Pedro Martinez in the final. In two TBAs this year, Hurkach has shown decent results. He reached the quarterfinals of the Australian Open (lost to Daniil Medvedev) and reached the fourth round of Roland Garros (lost to Grigor Dimitrov).

Carlos Alcaraz

Reigning champion Carlos Alcaraz is one of the big favorites, especially after his triumph at Roland Garros. The young Spaniard also won the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells this year.

An unfortunate loss to Jack Draper in Queens halted the Spaniard’s preparations for Wimbledon. This defeat caused him to slip from 2nd to 3rd place in the ATP rankings. However, given the Spaniard’s level of play, we can still expect him to perform well at Wimbledon.

Jannik the fisherman

Jannik Sinner will arrive at Wimbledon 2024 as the top seed. This will be the first time that the Italian will participate in a Grand Slam tournament as world number one. Sinner reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon last year, losing to Novak Djokovic in straight sets.

2024 proved to be a banner year for the Italian. Despite losing the first two sets to Medvedev in his first major final, Sinner turned things around to win his first Grand Slam at the 2024 Australian Open.

Sinner also won his first grass-court title, defeating Hubert Hurkacz in the final of the Terra Wortmann Open in Halle. The Italian also won titles in Rotterdam and Miami this year, propelling him to the top of the ATP rankings, dethroning Novak Djokovic. Given Sinner’s exceptional form, it would not be surprising to see him perform well at Wimbledon.
