Russian tennis player Alexandrova withdraws from Wimbledon due to illness

Russian tennis player Ekaterina Alexandrova will not play at Wimbledon, the press service of the Russian Tennis Federation (RFF) reports.

In the first round, Alexandrova, who was seeded 22nd, was scheduled to meet Briton Emma Raducanu. The meeting was scheduled for Monday.

— The Wimbledon matches haven’t started yet and we’ve already lost. Ekaterina Alexandrova withdrew due to illness. We wish you a speedy recovery,” the message read.

Alexandrova will be replaced in the Wimbledon main draw by lucky loser Renata Sarazua of Mexico.

The current winner of the tournament is the representative of the Czech Republic, Marketa Vondrousova.
