Yulia beat Belgian Alison van Uytvanck in two sets
Ukrainian tennis player Julia Starodubtseva beat the Belgian in two sets Alison van Uytvanck and made it to the second round Wimbledon 2024.
The match lasted one hour and 17 minutes. In the first set, Yulia had to come back from 0:2, which she did successfully. The key moment of the set was her second break in the tenth game.
The second set was different: the Belgian athlete was already losing 0:3, but she evened the score, but then it was the turn of the Ukrainian again, who brought the game to a confident victory.
At the next stage, Starodubtseva will meet Lulu Sun from New Zealand, who created one of the main sensations of the tournament, knocking out the world’s eighth-ranked Zheng Qingwen.
Let us recall that earlier in the first round of Wimbledon 2024, Lesia Tsurenko lost to Varvara Gracheva, Dayana Yastremska beat Nadya Podoroska, and Marta Kostyuk dealt with Rebecca Sramkova. In total, eight Ukrainians are playing in the main draw of this major, which is a national record.
The British Grand Slam tournament runs from July 1 to 14. In last year’s Wimbledon draw, the best Ukrainian player was Elina Svitolina, who reached the semi-finals.
