Angelina lost to “neutral” Elina Avanesyan
Ukrainian tennis player Angelina Kalinina couldn’t get through the first lap Wimbledon 2024.
At the start of the main draw of the Grand Slam tournament, Kalinina played against the “neutral” Elina Avanesyan. The match lasted just over an hour.
In the first set, Angelina gave her opponent three games on her serve — 2:6. In the second set, the Ukrainian also acted unsuccessfully on her serves — 3:6. It should be noted that during the entire match, Kalinina made 8 double and 38 unforced errors.
Angelina will continue her performance at Wimbledon in doubles. In the first round, Kalinina and Dayana Yastremska will play 11th-seeded Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula from the United States.
Earlier in the first round of Wimbledon 2024, Dayana Yastremska beat Nadia Podoroska, Marta Kostyuk defeated Rebecca Sramkova, Yulia Starodubtseva triumphed over Alison van Uytvanck, Lesia Tsurenko lost to Varvara Gracheva, and Kateryna Beindl lost to Laura Siegemund.
Today at Wimbledon 2024 another Ukrainian will play in the first round – Daria Snigur will meet with Oceane Dodin. The match between Elina Svitolina and Magda Linett has been postponed to tomorrow, July 3.
