The Ukrainian’s next opponent is 13th seed Elena Ostapenko
Ukrainian tennis player Daria Snigur confidently made it to the second round Wimbledon 2024.
In the first round, Snigur defeated Frenchwoman Oceane Dodin in two sets. The match lasted 52 minutes.
In the first set, Daria converted 2 of 2 break points — 6:4. In the second set, the Ukrainian did not give up a single game to her opponent — 6:0.
This is Snigur’s debut victory in the main draw of adult Wimbledon. Let us recall that in 2019, Daria became the winner of junior Wimbledon.
Snigur made it to the main draw of Wimbledon 2024 after overcoming three qualifying rounds. Daria beat Jille Teichmann, Katarina Zavacka and Zeynep Sonmez.
In the next round, Snigur will play against 13th seed Jelena Ostapenko. The Latvian representative beat Aila Tomljanovic from Australia today — 6:1, 6:2.
Earlier, six Ukrainians played at Wimbledon 2024: Dayana Yastremska beat Nadia Podoroska, Marta Kostyuk defeated Rebecca Shramkova, Yulia Starodubtseva triumphed over Alison van Uytvanck, Lesia Tsurenko lost to Varvara Gracheva, Kateryna Beindl lost to Laura Siegemund, and Angelina Kalinina was defeated by Elina Avanesyan.
Another Ukrainian, Elina Svitolina, will play her first round match against Magda Linett from Poland on July 3.
