The first racket in the Russian world Daniel Medvedev said the match against Australian Rinka Hijikata in the second round of the tournament in Mexico was not easy due to the long break in tournament performances.
On the eve of Medvedev defeated Hijikata with the score 6:4, 6:3. The Russian’s last tournament was the competition in Mallorca in June.
– It’s definitely not easy to play after a break, especially when you’re playing your first game on hard courts after a long time. The feelings were good. I could take a few more breaks, but when you win, it’s fine. I have to play like that in the next matches,” Medvedev told the ATP press service.
Also, the 26-year-old tennis player mentioned the mark of 250 victories in his career.
“Someone told me about it a few days ago, otherwise I wouldn’t have known. It’s probably a milestone of sorts. Sure, I want more wins, but 250 isn’t bad either. We will try to do more,” Medvedev added.
In the next round, Medvedev will play with the representative of Lithuania, Rikardas Berankis.
