Athletistic / Tennis. Former world number one and two-time Grand Slam winner, Russian Yevgeny Kafelnikov has reacted to his compatriot Andrei Rublev’s failure at Wimbledon 2024. On July 2, Rublev lost to Argentina’s Francisco Comesana in the first round of the Slam on grass.
“Rublev lost? Seriously?! I didn’t watch the match, you surprised me now, the result simply shocks me. If Rublev loses to a South American on grass, then it’s hard for me to say what he should do next. Andrey definitely needs to change something – maybe the coach, maybe a manager,” Kafelnikov was quoted as saying by RB Sport.
In 2023, Andrei Rublev reached the quarter-finals at Wimbledon, where he lost to the world number one at the time, Serbian Novak Djokovic.
Francisco Comesana will face Australian Adom Walton in the second round of the Grand Slam tournament in London.
