World number 22, Russian tennis player Karen Khachanov, has explained her decision to refuse to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris (France).

“There are several reasons. The main one is my schedule and calendar, for health reasons due to an injury last year I did not play all summer. Therefore, unfortunately, I had to make a very difficult decision. I decided that it would be difficult for the body to switch from grass to clay for the sake of a tournament, and then immediately, without preparation, to start playing hard,” Khachanov was quoted as saying by Ubitennis.

Earlier, Khachanov defeated Karatsev at Wimbledon. Aslan gave up the fight in the 4th set.

At the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, Russian tennis players will play in neutral status.
