On July 3, in four sets with the score of 7:6 (7-3), 7:6 (7-4), 2:6, 7:6 (7-4), he defeated his compatriot Matteo Berrettini (59th – th ATP ranking number).

“It was a very difficult match for me. Mateo and I played very well. Berrettini showed himself incredibly well. And I myself kept the level, especially in the first two sets. Then at the beginning of the third set I made a few mistakes, after which Matteo’s confidence started to grow even stronger. Overall, it was a good match on both sides, I’m happy to end it with a victory in four sets. We’ll see what happens in the next round,” the Wimbledon press service quotes Sinner as saying.

Jannik Sinner’s opponent in the 1/16 finals of Wimbledon 2024 will be the world’s 52nd racket, the Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic.

In the 2023 season, Jannik Sinner reached the semi-finals of Wimbledon, where he lost to Serbian Novak Djokovic.
