Marta lost the first set and was down 2:5 in the second
Ukraine’s first racket Marta Kostyuk made it to the third round Wimbledon 2024.
In the 1/32 final match, Kostyuk achieved a strong-willed victory over Daria Saville from Australia. The tennis players spent more than 3 hours on the court.
In the first set, Kostyuk, seeded 18th, gave up one game to her opponent and lost 4:6. In the second set, the Ukrainian was losing 2:5, but showed character and returned to the game.
With the score at 5:6 on Saville’s serve, Marta saved a match point. In the tie-break, Kostyuk finished off her opponent 7:2.
In the decisive third set, Marta was only able to finish the match with the sixth match point – 6:4.
In the third round, Kostyuk will play 12th seed Madison Keys from the USA.
Earlier, Dayana Yastremska advanced to the third round of Wimbledon 2024. Today, Daria Snigur and Elina Svitolina will also play in the 1/32 finals, facing Jelena Ostapenko and Jule Niemeyer, respectively.
Lesia Tsurenko, Kateryna Baindl, Angelina Kalinina and Yulia Starodubtseva have left the singles at Wimbledon 2024.
