Daria put up a fight in the first set, but couldn’t do anything against her opponent in the second
Ukrainian tennis player Daria Snigur was defeated by Elena Ostapenko from Latvia in the second round Wimbledon 2024.
In the first set, the Ukrainian tried to fight on equal terms, but the only break by the tournament’s 13th seed was decisive. Ostapenko played the second set on a high, not giving up a single game to Snigur.
Daria played in the main draw of Wimbledon for the first time in her career. She began her journey in the qualification with victories over Swiss Jille Teichmann, compatriot Katarina Zawacka and Zeynep Sonmez from Turkey. In the first round, she confidently dealt with Frenchwoman Oceane Dodin.
Earlier in the second round of the British major, Dayana Yastremska and Marta Kostyuk won comeback victories. Elina Svitolina will finish her match at this stage (against German Jule Niemeyer) later.
