The tournament of Wimbledon gave a moving tribute to Andy Murray after the British was eliminated from the doubles competition with his brother Jamiedefeat against the Australians Rinky Hijikata and John Peers 7-6 (8-6) and 6-4.
The Australian couple, despite not being together before, have Grand Slam titles. Hijikata won the Australian Open in 2023 and Peers in 2017, in addition to reaching the 2015 finals at Wimbledon and the US Open.
The Murrays, who have not played an official match together since the tournament in Washington in 2019, had a set point in the first set of the tiebreaker and had a break in their favor in the second.but they fell in two sets.
Andy Murray will have at least one match left at Wimbledon, as he has signed up for the mixed doubles tournament with Emma Raducanu. “It’s very special, we’ve never done it before. Physically it wasn’t easy, but I’m glad I was able to play together here once,” he assured after the meeting.
After the match, the Wimbledon organization scheduled a tribute for the Scot, led by Sue Barker, the tournament’s legendary interviewer and present at Andy Murray’s two titles in London, in 2013 and 201.6, the first for a Briton at Wimbledon since Fred Perry in 1936.

A video recalling the best moments of his career was shown on the Wimbledon scoreboards, along with remarks from Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams, accompanied by the song “Creep”, by Radiohead.
“We know what the journey has been and how to live that dream,” assured Federer, who despite being at the club did not go out on court with the Scot, as did, among others, Djokovic, John McEnroe, Martina Navratilova and Conchita Martínez. On the track, both Andy and his mother Judy couldn’t hold back their emotions and burst into tears.
