The match between the Ukrainian and the Croatian included two tie-breaks and lasted three hours.
Ukrainian tennis player Diana Yastremskaya lost to a Croatian Donna Vekic in the third round Wimbledon 2024.
The match was a fierce struggle and lasted almost three hours. The first set ended in a tie-break, which was won by Vekic (7:4). In the second set, at 6:5, the Croatian did not realize the match point, after which the tie-break brought success to her opponent (7:3).
Vekic had more strength left for the third set. She took Yastremska’s serve twice, brought the game to 5:1 and converted the match point on her eighth attempt.
Dayana started the British major with a victory over Argentine Nadia Podoroska, after which she beat Varvara Gracheva, representing France, in a tie-break.
Let us recall that earlier in the third round of Wimbledon, Marta Kostyuk lost to Madison Keys from the USA. Elina Svitolina will play her match at this stage tomorrow, July 6. Her opponent will be Ons Jabeur from Tunisia, a representative of the top 10 in the world rankings.
