The Italian is having an impressive grass-court season, winning all nine of his matches on the surface. He won the Terra Wortmann Open in Halle, beating Hubert Hurkacz in the final. At Wimbledon, Sinner needed four sets to beat Jannik Hanfmann in the first round. Yannick then claimed another four-set victory over former Wimbledon finalist Matteo Berrettini. In the third round, Sinner beat Miomir Kecmanovic in three sets, and in the fourth round, he faced his first seeded opponent of the tournament, Ben Shelton. The Italian won 6-2, 6-4, 7-6 (9).

Medvedev has not performed as well as he would have liked in 2024. The Russian has reached the finals in only two tournaments this season, losing both. He has also fallen from third to fifth in the ATP rankings. Medvedev is 5-1 on grass this season. The Russian was defeated by Zhang Zhizhen in the second round of the Terra Wortmann Open in Halle. At Wimbledon, Daniil opened with a three-set win over Alexander Kovacevic. In the next two rounds, the Russian played tough four-set matches against Alexander Müller and Jan-Lennard Struff. In the fourth round, Medvedev faced tenth seed Grigor Dimitrov, but the Bulgarian retired in the first set due to injury.

Medvedev leads head-to-head with Sinnner 6-5. Yet Yannick has won the last five meetings between them. The last match came in the semi-finals of this year’s Miami Open.
