Former world number nine Andrei Chesnokov told he would definitely come to support Elena Vesnin at the Paris Olympic Games.
On Tuesday, the International Tennis Federation (ITF) confirmed the Russian’s participation in the Games on its official website. Vesnina will perform in tandem with Ekaterina Alexandrova. Daniil Medvedev, Roman Safiullin, Pavel Kotov, Mirra Andreeva and Diana Schneider will also represent Russia at the Games in the French capital.
“Lena Vesnina told me about it four days ago. I am very happy that she will perform there with Alexandrova. Ekaterina receives, serves and plays perfectly. Vesnina won three helmets and Olympic gold. In tournaments like the Games, it is not always important to be played, but the first round plays a huge role. Sometimes it can turn out to be unrealistic and everyone thinks that this is a passing court. I am happy for Elena and that she is coming to Paris. “I will definitely come there and support her at the Olympics,” Chesnokov told .
Vesnina is the 2016 Olympic doubles champion, Tokyo Games silver medalist in mixed doubles, winner of three Grand Slam pairs tournaments.
The Paris Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11.
