Former Russian tennis player and two-time Grand Slam mixed doubles champion Andrei Olkhovsky explained why the Russian Daniel Medvedev managed to defeat Italian Jannik Sinner in the quarter-finals of Wimbledon.
On Tuesday, Medvedev defeated Sinner with a score of 6:7 (7:9), 6:4, 7:6 (7:4), 2:6, 6:3. The meeting lasted exactly four hours.
— I am very happy that I was wrong with the predictions. Before the match, I preferred Sinner.
“I think Medvedev played a very good match. Daniil showed that he is physically better than Sinner. In the decisive moments, Medvedev played very fast and Sinner could not keep up with his pace. Daniil not only played well in defense, but he also attacked a lot himself,” Olkhovsky told RB Sport.
In the semi-finals, Medvedev will face Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz.
