Athletistic / TennisThe world’s seventh-ranked tennis player, Italian Jasmine Paolini, defeated Croatian Donna Vekic on July 11 and reached the final of Wimbledon 2024. This allowed her to repeat the feat of legendary American Serena Williams.

In the semifinals, Paolini defeated Vekic in three sets with a score of 2:6, 6:4, 7:6 (10-8). This allowed Jasmine to reach her second consecutive Grand Slam final. In June, the Italian reached the final of Roland Garros, but there she lost to the world’s number one racket, Iga Swiatek from Poland.

Thus, Paolini became the first tennis player since Serena Williams to reach the finals of Roland Garros and Wimbledon in the same season. The last time Serena did this was in 2016. Then, the American could not win in Paris, but celebrated another triumph in London

For the victory at Wimbledon 2024, Jasmine Paolini will fight with the Czech Barbora Krejcikova (32nd world racket). The final of the women’s singles tournament will take place on July 13.
