Athletistic / Tennis. Former world number one, legendary American tennis player Serena Williams has become the host of the 2024 ESPY Awards in Los Angeles. At the event, she performed a song dedicated to Russian tennis player Maria Sharapova.
“I dedicate this song to a very special person in my life: Maria Sharapova!” – Williams Jr. said before the track began.
It is worth noting that during the song, Serena joked about the record during their personal confrontation. During their career, William and Sharapova met 22 times, and the American won 20 matches.
Maria Sharapova still remains the most successful tennis player in Russia. During her career, she won 39 WTA titles, including five Grand Slam titles. She helped the Russian team win the Fed Cup (2008) and also won a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. She ended her sports career in 2020.
Serena Williams finally retired from the sport in 2022. She is a four-time Olympic champion and 38-time Grand Slam winner.
