Ukrainian tennis player Julia Starodubtseva paired with an American Quinn Gleason dramatically lost in the semi-finals of the tournament WTA 125 in Swedish Bastade in doubles.
Yulia and Quinn lost to the Argentine duo Maria Lourdes Carle / Julia Riera. The fight lasted one hour and 49 minutes.
The first set was an equal and fierce struggle. The Ukrainian and the American were leading 5:3, but allowed their opponents to equalize the score, simultaneously failing to realize the set point. It came down to a tie-break, where Starodubtseva and her colleague were stronger – 7:5.
Carle and Riera took a convincing revenge in the second set, losing only one game to their opponents. Everything was decided in the final shootout – there Yulia and Quinn led by 6:3, then 8:7, but their opponents made a comeback and eventually won – 11:9.
