Athletistic/Tennis. Yevgeny Kafelnikov, one of the most successful Russian tennis players, has expressed his thoughts on the upcoming Wimbledon final between Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz and Serbian Novak Djokovic.

“If Alcaraz wins this final, he will have a good chance of breaking Djokovic’s record for the most Grand Slam titles. He has a huge reserve of stamina, which allows him to turn the tide of a match in his favor. He understands his strengths very well,” Kafelnikov said.

“Alcaraz’s semi-final against Medvedev started slowly. There were a few breaks and the match was a bit nervous. Medvedev played perfectly in the first set tie-break, but Alcaraz continued to demonstrate a high level of play. When he broke early in the second set, it was clear that the outcome of the match was almost decided,” he added.

“Medvedev had a great tournament, the victory over Sinner was important, but for Dani, victories in big tournaments are important. He has only one trophy so far, which is not enough for a full-fledged career,” Kafelnikov stressed.

“On hard court, Medvedev has a chance to match Alcaraz. But on the grass of Wimbledon, it is difficult to do it. I can’t imagine how Alcaraz can beat Djokovic on Sunday. The Serb had the perfect motivation after missing the quarter-finals due to De Minaur’s injury. He started the tournament in the second week and gradually improved his game. Novak has every chance to win the 25th title, but it will be extremely difficult,” Kafelnikov concluded.

“Even if Alcaraz loses the first set, he will be able to rally and start turning the tide of the match. His game arsenal is equal to and in many ways superior to Djokovic’s level. Novak will need something special to throw. “Alcaraz is unbalanced. Maybe it will be a serve with access to the net. The most logical outcome of the final, given the current form, is Alcaraz’s victory with a score of 3:1 in sets,” Kafelnikov concluded.
