Athletistic will broadcast a live text online: Tennis. Wimbledon. The final. Krejcikova – Paolini. Live
Paolini, seeded seventh in this year’s tournament, came back from two breaks down in the deciding set to beat Donna Vekic in a tiebreaker 2-6, 6-4, 7-6(8). It was the longest women’s singles semifinal in tournament history. The victory helped her become just the fifth tennis player in the last 25 years to reach the finals of both Wimbledon and the French Open in the same year. In two weeks, the Italian has won over the likes of Emma Navarro, Bianca Andrescu and Madison Keys, improving her already impressive win-loss record for the season to 30-12.
Krejcikova, meanwhile, has already been in form at Wimbledon. The Czech came into the tournament with a negative 7-9 record for the season and no wins against players in the top 20. The former Roland Garros champion has since won three times, including beating world number four Elena Rybakina in the semifinals. She has also beaten Jelena Ostapenko and Danielle Collins.
Krejcikova leads the match against Paolini with a score of 1-0. However, these two tennis players met in 2018 and the Czech won his qualifying match for the Australian Open in straight sets.
