Athletistic/Tennis. Spanish tennis player and 22-time Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal will compete in the 2024 US Open.

The 38-year-old Spaniard will participate in the US Open with a protected score, according to journalist José Morgado, who published the tournament’s entry sheets.

The protected ranking allows tennis players who have left the circuit for a long time for a valid reason to keep their place for a certain period of time in order to resume performances at a later date. However, a protected ranking only allows you to enter the tournament bracket, but does not affect the ranking during the draw.

Nadal missed last year’s US Open due to a hip injury. At the 2022 US Open, the four-time tournament winner reached the fourth round, where he lost to American Francis Tiafoe.

On Tuesday, Nadal beat Bjorn Borg’s son (6:3, 6:4) at the start of the ATP-250 tournament on clay in Bastad (Sweden).

  • Nadal admitted he lacked confidence on the court
