“Dear people of Kazakhstan! It is difficult for me to report, but unfortunately I will not be able to participate in the Olympic Games in Paris.
After the Wimbledon tournament, I contracted acute bronchitis and despite attempts to return to training, my body has not yet recovered. Doctors have categorically forbidden me to go to the court.
I am truly sorry that I could not live up to your hopes and compete for our team at the Paris Olympics. I was so close to a medal in Tokyo and prepared diligently for the Paris Games to win gold for Kazakhstan. Unfortunately, illness prevented these plans from coming to fruition.
“I wish all Kazakh athletes good luck and success in Paris! I will support all our athletes and believe that they will be able to adequately represent our country at the Olympic Games,” Rybakina was quoted as saying by the press service of the Kazakhstan Tennis Federation.
The tennis tournament of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will take place from July 27 to August 4. It will take place on the courts of Roland Garros.
