Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic expressed his dissatisfaction with the regulations for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
The Belgrade native was outraged that the place of the British Andy Murray, who refused to play in singles, was taken by the tennis player Matthew Ebden, who plays in doubles. The meeting between Djokovic and Ebden lasted 54 minutes and ended with a score of 6:0, 6:1 in favor of the Serb.
“I really don’t understand these rules.” They seem completely illogical to me. Honestly, I don’t think it reflects well on the sport.
Many reserve singles players had plenty of time and could have been recalled. “I don’t understand that,” Djokovic said, according to AP.
In the second round, Djokovic will face Spaniard Rafael Nadal on July 29.
The men’s tennis tournament at the Paris Games will end on August 4.
