Medvedev’s father believes that the tennis player is close to the title of Hero of Russia

Sergei Medvedev, father of the world’s first racket Daniel Medvedev believes that the son is worthy of receiving the title of Hero of Russia.

– A difficult task: to tell what I live, knowing that my son is the first in the world. Believe it or not, I very rarely think about it. For me, the main thing is that he was happy and happy. Of course, I’m proud of his success. He glorifies our family and brings happiness to all his loved ones! For me, he is a hero. Intelligent, kind, persistent and hardworking. He, like his daughters Julia and Elena, is our happiness. God bless him.

I recently wrote him the following lines: “Danya, you are a hero! First for me. I understand well. Heroes of our species. Close to the title of Hero of Russia. I walked the slope leading to the hero of world tennis. But this slope is very steep, slippery and dangerous. Few players stayed there. Basically, everyone stays at base camp, tunes into that path in lyrics, but they stay there. To descend this slope, you must develop in you a killer instinct. The more difficult and painful it is for you, the more pleasant it is. Total indifference to difficulties. Only sports anger and fearlessness. And opponents need to see it. And understand that you will not break. And rare defeats are nonsense. Just study. And then you will pass this slope and sit on the upper glade. Always remember your loved ones. They have your blood. And God will reward your work and ours,” Medvedev’s father told .

On July 25, Daniil Medvedev, winner of the US Open‑2021, broke Marat Safin’s record for first place in the ranking of Russian tennis players. The 26-year-old athlete has held the front row for 11 weeks.

On Wednesday August 3, Medvedev reached 250 career wins by defeating Australian Rinki Hijikata in the second round of the Los Cabos tournament. The Russian became the second athlete born in 1995 or later to achieve this result.
