The tennis player of Ukraine commented on his difficult victory in the 1/8 finals of the Olympic Games.
Marta Kostyuk complained about the intense heat in Paris after winning the 1/8 finals of the Olympics against Maria Sakkari of Greece.
According to the Ukrainian, the air humidity also increased in the French capital on Tuesday, which added to the problems in the court. In addition, Kostyuk’s serve did not go well in this game.
“Now I’m studying my match and I understand that I won it without serving, but it really is.
I was proud of myself because I started this match well, but something went wrong and I didn’t believe I could win. Of course, I played until the end, but it was so difficult to go out and lose my serve every time, that there was almost no chance.
Mentally it’s always difficult, especially when I always dominate the serve. Therefore, I am very glad that I was able to turn the tide of events and finish the match in my favor.
How did I handle the court in the heat? I don’t know, let’s see tomorrow if I can do it. The adrenaline helped today; I am preparing for a high temperature.
I feel like yesterday was harder for me than today. Today there is very high humidity, so the air temperature seems higher.
I’m glad that starting tomorrow the weather will be nicer and cooler. I hope that the schedule will be in my favor and the next matches will take place at night,” said Kostyuk after the game.
We remind you that in the 1/4 finals Marta will meet Croatian Donna Vekic. The match will take place no earlier than 21:30 Kyiv time.
