Zverev and Ruud became the last participants in the quarter-finals of the Olympic tennis tournament

German tennis player Alexander Zverev defeated Australian representative Alexei Popyrin in the third round of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Third seed Zverev beat Popyrin 7:5, 6:3 in 1 hour 30 minutes.

In the quarter-finals, Zverev’s opponent will be the Italian Lorenzo Musetti (11th seed).

Zverev won Olympic gold in the men’s singles tournament at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

In another match of the day, the Norwegian, sixth seed Casper Ruud defeated Argentina’s Francisco Serundolo – 6:3, 6:4 in 1 hour 21 minutes. To reach the semi-finals, Ruud will face Canadian Felix Auger-Alassime (13th seed), who had previously beaten Russia’s Daniil Medvedev.
