The French Union of Sports Journalists has condemned a radio commentator for sexism towards a female tennis player at the Paris Olympics.

The French Association of Women Sports Journalists (FJS) and the Union of Sports Journalists of France (UJSF) have condemned an RMC journalist for sexist remarks during a women’s doubles tennis match at the Paris Olympics.

In the 1/8 finals of the Olympic tournament, the French Diane Parry and Caroline Garcia lost to the Italians Sarah Errani and Jasmin Paolini. During the match, the commentator said: “Sara Errani is the boss, she does everything: she does the dishes, she cooks, she washes the floor.”

“Sexist and misogynistic statements have no place in international competition,” commented Le Parisien, quoting the FJS and the UJSF.

Earlier, Eurosport suspended British commentator Bob Ballard from his work at the Paris Olympics over sexist comments during a swimming competition.

The Paris Olympics will last until August 11.
