Alexander Zverev announced the launch of a foundation that will support children with diabetes and provide medication for diabetics in developing countries.
– Today the Alexander Zverev Foundation was officially launched, which supports children with type 1 diabetes and helps people prevent type 2 diabetes by leading healthy and active lives. Our mission is to provide insulin and lifesaving medicines to children in developing countries and those in need,” Zverev wrote on social media.
As part of his announcement, the German tennis player revealed that he has diabetes.
“As a type 1 diabetic myself, I want to encourage kids with diabetes to never give up on their dreams, no matter what others tell you,” Zverev added.
Zverev is currently recovering from a right ankle injury he suffered at Roland Garros and underwent surgery in June.
