Mirra Andreeva: “I’m not a beginner anymore. Over the year, I’ve become more aggressive on the court, I know what I want”

Russian tennis player Mirra Andreeva said she no longer feels like a newcomer on the WTA Tour and also spoke about changes in playing style.

Andreeva is 17 years old and the Russian made her WTA debut in October 2022 at the age of 15. This season, Andreeva reached the semifinals of the French Open, won her first WTA title and won silver at the Paris Olympics in doubles. She is ranked 23rd in the world.

“I’m starting to feel the atmosphere more and feel like I’m in the right place.” I’m not a beginner and I’m not a surprise like before. It was like a dream, but now it’s just my life.

I have changed as a player. I think I have become more aggressive, I know what I want on the pitch. Now I don’t just come to play, trying to have fun and win as many games as possible, but I know what I want and what I need.

“I’ve become more direct. I feel like this is the next level for me. As a person, I’m still the same as last year, just a little more mature and I don’t say crazy things anymore. But I’m still the same old Mirra,” Andreeva is quoted by the Australian Open press service, referring to The Sit-Down podcast.
