Alejandro Tabilo climbs the ATP rankings and becomes number one again in Chile

The southpaw reached No. 69 in the world rankings and is ahead of Garin, who again suffered a fall, after losing 35 units.

The ATP rankings are changing names again with the arrival of a new week, and the Chileans were no strangers to these changes. Some that still change the order of national rackets: Alejandro Tabilo (69th) regains his place as number one in the country.

The left-hander achieves this feat again, since less than a month ago, he had obtained this recognition for the first time in his career. Situation, which due to the proximity of the scores with Christian Garin (74th), had changed regularly in recent weeks and is it only 30 units separate the Canadian-born from the northerners.

While Garin dropped six cards on Monday (due to a loss of 35 points), Alejandro managed to climb two places in the ATP rankings and reach 69th place. All in a week in which the two tennis players saw no action in official tournaments.

However, the reality of the two is very different. Firstly Tabilo is in Chile, doing an offseason settle all the details of the North American tour. Gago, for his part, works between cottons to be able to say he is present in the last Grand Slam of the season. Discomfort in his right wrist had complicated him in recent weeks and he recently managed to return to training, so his physical condition is completely unknown.

Of course, the programming of the two has a common place: the Winstom Salem ATP. The two Chileans have their sights set on the event which takes place in North Carolina and is one of the tournaments belonging to the US Open series, a preparatory tour for the US Open. Now, Garin is still unknown, since despite the fact that he himself said that he would do everything possible to be there, it is his wrist that will ultimately determine his return to the circuit.

For the US Open, the presence of both is more optimistic. A delegation to which could also be added Nicolás Jarry (105th), since the Santiagonais will have to play the qualifiers for the event which takes place in New York from August 29.

Jarry and Barrios go down, but Soto goes up

Apart from the dispute between Tabilo and Garin over who will be number one in Chile at the end of the season, the rest of the national tennis players have also seen changes in their positions within the rankings. Jarry loses a position and drops to 105th place in the world, while Tomás Barrios, recently operated on his knee, lost two places and reached 132° from the global list.

Of course, all was not bad for the rest of the national delegation, since Matías Soto achieved the best ranking of his career after his consecration in the M25 of Portoviejo. The Chilean cried champion for the second time professionally and consolidated a powerful promotion. Today the live ranking has it in box 524 in the world almost 100 places more than a week ago.

Good news thinking about the Davis Cup series against Peru, since with the confirmed loss of Tomás Barrios, the name of Soto gains strength to be part of the payroll provided by Nicolás Massú and it will surely also have Tabilo, Garin and Jarry. The key starts on September 17.
