Serena Williams hints at her retirement

American tennis player Serena Williams hints at the imminent end of his career.

On August 8, Williams defeated Spaniard Nuria Parrizas Diaz in the first round of the WTA tournament in Toronto (6:3, 6:4). The 23-time Grand Slam winner won for the first time since being eliminated from Wimbledon 2022 at the end of June. It was the first time she won singles on the WTA Tour since last summer.

“I think it’s just light at the end of the tunnel,” Williams said after the game. “I don’t know, I’m getting closer to the light. That’s all for me lately. I can’t wait to get to that light.

“Freedom,” she added when asked what the light meant.

I love playing, it’s amazing. But, you know, I can’t do this forever. So sometimes you just want to do your best to enjoy the moments, — quotes the words of Williams Eurosport.

Serena Williams, 40, is a four-time Olympic champion in women’s singles and doubles and an off-schedule Grand Slam winner in singles and doubles. In addition, Serena is the only one among men and women to have a career Golden Slam (winning all four Grand Slams and the Olympics) in singles and doubles. Williams is a five-time WTA champion.
