Elina lost the first set, but still managed to defeat the Argentine
Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina in the first round US Open 2024 won against the representative of Argentina Maria Lourdes Carle.
The match lasted 2 hours and 20 minutes. The first set was unsuccessful for Elina – she lost four out of five games on her serve. As a result, the defeat was 3:6.
Svitolina started the second set completely differently – she forced the Argentine tennis player to make mistakes, and in the end, thanks to three breaks, she won with a score of 6:3.
In the final set, Lourdes Carle improved, but Svitolina still confirmed her status as the favorite of the pair. At 5:3, she was unable to serve for the match, but at 5:4, she was able to make a break, converting the match point on the third attempt.
