Not all Ukrainian tennis players were able to overcome the first round barrier at the US Open.
Elina Svitolina and Angelina Kalinina made a successful start to the 2024 US Open with Svitolina defeating Argentina’s Maria Lourdes Carle in the 1/64 finals in three sets in 2 hours and 20 minutes. In the turn, Kalinina defeated, also in three sets, the Frenchwoman Oceane Daudin.
Meanwhile, Lesya Tsurenko and Dayana Yastremskaya lost at the start of the US Open. Yastremskaya was helpless against German Jule Niemeyer, and Tsurenko lost to American Peyton Stearns.
