The end of influencer Fogonox’s culinary journey has sparked intense debate among his followers. The reason? He was buying antiques from street vendors.
Daniel Bencid is a youtuber Venezuelan who usually shares networks the experiences of the trips he makes.
On his YouTube channel where he has accumulated nearly 340,000 subscribers and more than 400 videos, the influencer known as Fogonix is shown tasting typical dishes, visiting iconic attractions or talking about his first impressions of each country.
On this occasion, Bencid became the center of attention on social networks by sharing a new video about a gastronomic trip he made Saint-Jacques . Their mission was as follows: to test the street food which is prepared in Chilean territory.
What Venezuelan YouTuber Said About Chilean Street Food
To begin his adventure through the Chilean capital, the Venezuelan YouTuber chose the Plaza de Armas, located in Santiago Centro. He was accompanied by influencers Carlos and Janet from the YouTube channel 2Latin American Gastronomes who reside in the country.
“There are different modalities that could be considered street food. That’s what I want to share, typical dishes from the region, and maybe this or that dish that, in addition to being indigenous, can actually be found on the street,” the influencer began by saying.
The first course was the classic complete and for this he moved to Portal Ex Bahamondes, the place in Portal Fernández Concha where the recipe would have been born.
“As for the amount of mayonnaise, the truth is that it has a fairly mild flavor. The sauerkraut is very delicious, I really liked the mustard. I feel like the ketchup is a bit runny, or maybe it contrasts with the tomato. I like it, approved ” he noted of the recipe that uses sauerkraut.
Soon after, he dared to try full Italian. “I liked this one better, but I think it’s because of the avocado. “I really liked the combination.” he said.
The next stop was La Vega Central, where he went to eat sopaipillas carts. “It looks like fried cupcake batter. Traditionally, if it’s homemade, you add pumpkin and it turns yellowish. In theory, the homemade one is like that, but it’s very unlikely that the one we get in the carts is homemade, it’s very likely that it contains dyes,” Carlos explained.
After starting the tasting, the Venezuelan YouTuber said: “It’s a bit cold, but in the end it’s a paste that can save your life in certain situations. Plus, it’s super cheap.” .
Halfway through their tour, Bencid and the other influencers went to Las Pipas de Einstein to try the earthquake Chilean drink made with pipeño wine, grenadine and pineapple ice cream. “You have a powerful and sweet combination. It’s crazy (…) the curious thing is that when you want to repeat an earthquake, they offer you a ‘replica’,” Janet said.
After drinking a little, the content creator gave his first impression on the most consumed cocktail during the National Holiday period: “It’s to fool the innocent, so be very careful. With one, believe me, it’s fine.” .
Another point of the tour was the Tirso de Molina market, located in Recoleta, where they tasted the consommé. “It is not part of street food, but what a good soup,” explained Bencid.
At the market, they also consumed a chorrillane which the influencer had a very positive opinion. “If you’re a fan of fries like me, this could be an ideal lunch,” he said on camera.
To add a sweet preparation to his list, he chose the nickname huesillo of the cars located in the heart of Paseo Ahumada. “It’s thick, it’s like syrup,” he began by saying, before adding that it had a very good taste.
The end of the influencer’s gastronomic adventure sparked intense debate among Internet users. The reason? He bought antiques from street vendors in the Mapocho area.
“These are definitely street stalls that are here. I don’t know where you’re saying it has pork in it, because I didn’t smell any pork in it. he said to his companion.
The scene triggered a wave of reactions among Fogonix followers. In fact, several mentioned that dog meat had been found in the anticuchos sold in these types of stalls and that to avoid health problems, it was not advisable to buy them.
“These anticuchos had neither pork nor chicken” , “Do not eat food from supermarket trolleys or those that are not authorized” And “He ate dog meat” were some of the messages his followers expressed in the comments section.
Venezuelan YouTuber’s Opinion on Chilean Prices
In another video which he recently shared on his platforms, Fogonix wanted to explain what it looks like the cost of living in Chile and his thoughts on the subject.
After listening to the testimony of Alirio Real, another young Venezuelan living in the country, the YouTuber was able to learn the average amount that one has to pay for basic services, such as water and electricity. He also took the time to visit a supermarket and show the prices of basic products, including pasta, rice, oil, milk and eggs.
At the end of his mission, Fogonix shared his opinion on the cost of living in Chile. “In my opinion it is a fairly economical country, it is a country which is very well positioned in relation to its salary and the quality of life of the people” argument.
The YouTuber also clarified that his opinion was based on the geographical location, considering that “normally, the further south you are, the more expensive it is, since many essential products end up depending on imports. But in the case of Chile, even the most basic products that cannot be produced here are very cheap.”
