None of the Ukrainian tennis players managed to reach the fourth round of the American major in singles
Ukraine’s first racket Marta Kostyuk lost with a fight to the American Emma Navarro in the third round US Open 2024.
The match lasted for almost two hours. Navarro, justifying her status as the favorite, immediately took the lead 2:0. Marta equalized, then converted a break at 3:3, but immediately gave up her serve. In the end, the final score was Emma’s — 6:4.
The equal fight continued in the second set. There was only one break, and it was made by the representative of Ukraine. The score was equalized.
In the third set, Kostyuk led 2:0, then 3:1. The US representative pressed and tied the game. Kostyuk immediately got a break point, but was unable to convert it. In response, Navarro took Marta’s serve and, on a roll, brought the game to victory.
Thus, not a single Ukrainian managed to get through to the fourth round (1/8 finals) of the American major in singles. Let us recall that earlier today Elina Svitolina dramatically lost to another American, the third racket of the world Coco Gauff.
