Ukrainian and Frenchman Sadio Doumbia missed two match points in the second set
Ukrainian Ludmila Kichenok and the Frenchman Sadio Doumbia suffered a defeat in the first round of mixed doubles US Open 2024.
In the 1/16 finals match, Kichenok and Doumbia lost to Australian Ellen Perez and Belgian Sander Gillet. The opponents spent an hour and 41 minutes on the court.
In the first set, Kichenok and Doumbia made two breaks and won 7:5. The fate of the second set was determined in a tie-break: the Ukrainian and the Frenchwoman failed to realize two match points and lost 8:10.
In the decisive super tie-break, Lyudmila and Sadio had nothing to offer their opponents – 3:10.
Lyudmila will continue to compete in the 2024 US Open in doubles. The Ukrainian and Elena Ostapenko from Latvia are seeded seventh in the tournament and have already reached the second round of the tournament.
