Athletistic/Tennis. The winner of the 1994 Australian Open and 1993 Roland Garros mixed doubles, Andrei Olkhovsky, shared his opinion that Russian tennis player Andrei Rublev, ranked sixth in the world, will have an easier time playing against the world’s 28th-ranked Australian Alexei Popyrin, than against Serbian Novak Djokovic at the upcoming 2024 US Open.

“Andrey needs to focus on the next match and not think about Djokovic’s absence in the quarterfinals. Psychologically, of course, it will be easier to play with Popyrin than with Djokovic on a big court. But for this, Popyrin still needs to win the next match, like Rublev. Andrey needs to prepare for the meeting with Dimitrov – the match will not be easy,” Olkhovsky noted in an interview with the “Championship” correspondent.

Today, August 31, Andrey Rublev defeated Czech Jiri Leecka in the third round of the US Open with a score of 6:3, 7:5, 6:4. In the 1/8 finals, he will meet Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov.
