Athletistic/Tennis. Two-time Grand Slam winner Yevgeny Kafelnikov commented on Andrei Rublev’s exit from the US Open. In the 1/8 finals, Rublev, ranked sixth in the world, lost to Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov (ranked 9) with a score of 3:6, 6:7 (3:7), 6:1, 6:3, 3:6.

“What happens to him in these decisive moments is no longer funny. I have no idea why this is happening. He played well in the previous rounds, but in the decisive moments he failed again. I watched the whole match for the first time in a long time and being disappointed with his game and the situation as a whole, Andrei missed another opportunity to advance and overcome the barrier of the quarterfinals of the Grand Slam tournaments.

“As for the episode with the racket blow, I do not understand and do not want to understand. This behavior at the very beginning of the match with the score 2:1 in the first set does not help him. First of all, Andrei himself suffers,” Kafelnikov noted in an interview with a correspondent of Soviet Sport.

In the next round, Dimitrov will meet American Francis Tiafoe. The current winner of the US Open is Serbian Novak Djokovic, who last year defeated Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev in the final with a score of 6:3, 7:6, 6:3.
