American tennis player Emma Navarro became the first semi-finalist in the singles draw US Open 2024.
In the quarterfinal match, Navarro, seeded 13th, won Paulo Badoso from Spain. The fight lasted an hour and 14 minutes.
In the first set, Emma made two breaks and left her opponent with no chance – 6:2. In the second set, the American was losing 1:5, but made an impressive comeback, winning six games (three on Badosa’s serve) in a row – 7:5.
The 23-year-old Navarro will play in the semifinals of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time in her career. The American’s next opponent will be determined in the match between Zheng Qinwen (China, 7) and Aryna Sabalenka (-, 2).
It should be noted that in the 1/8 finals, Navarro beat the 2023 US Open champion Coco Gauff, and in the 1/16 finals, she dealt with Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk.
