Ukrainian-Latvian duo advance to US Open 2024 doubles final
Ukrainian tennis player Ludmila Kichenok commented on the game in pairs with the Latvian Elena Ostapenkowith whom she made it to the final yesterday US Open 2024 Doubles.
“Why did we play so well? I think it’s our style in general. We try to dominate the court, play aggressively. It worked. I think we definitely have chemistry. I don’t know how to explain it. We just feel each other. It all depends on the situation, we adapt, so for example when someone talks more and someone talks less.”
In the semi-finals of the US Open 2024 doubles, L. Kichenok and Ostapenko left no chance for the duo of Zhan Haoqing/Veronika Kudermetova (6:1, 6:2).
In the final, the Ukrainian and Latvian will play against the pair Kristina Mladenovic / Shuai Zhang (France / China). The decisive match of the women’s doubles tournament will take place on September 6.
Let us recall that Lyudmyla Kichenok became the first Ukrainian woman to reach the semifinals of doubles in all four Grand Slam tournaments. Kichenok and Ostapenko will play in the major final for the second time this season – they previously reached the decisive match of the Australian Open-2024.
